Therefore, it is not a coincidence to note that the best selling digital cameras are designed to include such features. Both shoppers and users of digital cameras state that they place a high priority on a simple to use yet effective and practical piece of equipment. They want one that is easy to carry around and operate. Nothing too fancy or sophisticated. However, apart from these general preferences, a number of specific features such as the following, are commonly listed as important:
Viewfinder - LCD Monitor. Many users of digital cameras tend to view mega pixels and other fancy features as important. However, over and above these, the LCD monitor is what matters most. This is because it is the LCD monitor which will be used to view the user to view the picture to be taken. In appreciating this, it would be easy to understand why the LCD monitor is extremely important. A tiny monitor and eyesight that is not perfect will more than strain the eyes. It will hit the nerves too! In terms of size, users recommend one that is at least two inches especially for those without "top-gun" eyesight. A monitor about this size will be easy to view while falling within the compact camera category.
Memory and Storage. Invariably, many users of digital cameras often like to store their photos simply because such a facility is available. Video. Even hand phones allow users to take videos. Therefore, a digital camera with this feature would be within expectations. It may not be a priority where the user also owns a video camera. However, even if one does, it would be convenient to have this function within a digital camera as there would not be a need to carry additional equipment.
Size and Weight. Does it matter? It certainly does. A good digital camera for most people would be one that is easy to carry around. However, if one has larger than average size hands, a larger size would be preferable. In terms of size, a lightweight would be a far better choice unless the user is a heavyweight.
In deciding on a particular model, there would be other features and technical specifications that one would like to take into consideration. These could include brand name, zoom, flash, battery type and mega pixels. However, it is better to check-off the basic necessities before looking at the "nice to have" additional features in the digital camera of choice.
